Bishop Auckland ladies and girls section was formed in 2014 and grew so rapidly, it was hailed as one of the fastest growing female rugby sections in Britain.

We aim to offer rugby to ladies of all ages in an environment which is fun, safe and competitive.

The section offers rugby for female players from the age of 11 with no upper age limit.

The senior ladies currently play in National Challenge North 2 East and are one of the only teams in the area to also boast a development team which offers entry level contact rugby. Bishop Auckland Girls field age groups of U13, U15 and U18.

In 2017/18 Bishop Auckland won the Durham County Sevens tournament, North of England Sevens Plate Competition and were the Durham County XV Plate Winners . The ladies team have now had over 10 players represent Durham at Senior level.

During the summer, Bishop Auckland ladies run a touch Rugby programme aimed at developing skills in a competitive environment. This is open to both contact rugby players and ladies seeking non-contact rugby.  Bishop Auckland RUFC also promote and encourage the development of female coaches and referees.  For information, contact Steven Colwell.

A Female physiotherapist is available to manage injuries on training nights and on matchdays.

Each ladies team has RFU qualified coaches, RFU First aid cover and the girls sections all have RFU Safeguarding officers.

Training for Girls is on Thursday Evenings from 7pm Until 8:30pm, and the team play on Sundays.
